Our Ancascocha trek takes you through some seriously isolated places at very high altitudes. The views are absolutely stunning and it makes you feel like you’re walking on top of the world.

Day 1 Cusco Pickup :

  • We pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 AM in the morning.

Day 1 Cusco to Pampa Japonesa :

  • We drive to Soraypampa which is the start of the trek and have breakfast on the way.
  • After breakfast we hike via Humantay Lake to Salkantaypampa where a delicious lunch is prepared for you.
  • You have time to relax for a while before continuing to hike to our first campsite at Pampa Japonesa.
  • Our chef will prepare a beautiful Peruvian dinner for you to enjoy.
  • You can observe the stunning sky and stars from your own tent and get ready for a good night sleep.

Day 2 Pampa Japonesa to Millpo :

  • Wake up early and enjoy a beautiful healthy breakfast.
  • We start hiking to the Inka Chiriasca Pass which is at about 4,959mtr altitude and has amazing views of  Salkantay Mountain.
  • Next we hike along the original Inca trail through the Tocto Pass until we reach the Calacocha Pass.
  • Finally we hike through the Cruz Casa Pass to the Millpo Pass where our second campsite is.
  • Our chef will prepare another beautiful Peruvian dinner for you.
  • You have plenty of time to chill out and get ready for another good night sleep.

Day 3 Millpo Pass to Ancascocha :

  • After breakfast we start walking to the Chusqenay Pass.
  • We continue toward the Rumicolca Pass (CHECK) and the  Acocasa Pass.
  • Here we take a short break and enjoy the views of the Inca Trail which leads to Machu Picchu.
  • The views also include some of our mist spectacular mountains such as Salkantay, Humantay, Huayanay and Hacaywillca.
  • We explore the Inca ruin Huillca Raccay (aka Willka Raqay)
  • Finally we descent into Lake Ancascocha where our campsite is.
  • Our chef will prepare another beautiful Peruvian dinner for you.
  • You have plenty of time to chill out and get ready for another good night sleep.

Day 4 Ancascocha to Aguas Calientes :

  • After breakfast we hike through amazing native forests to the community of Camicancha.
  • Here we are picked up by our driver and travel to Ollantaytambo.
  • At Ollantaytambo we board the train to Aguas Calientes.
  • We take you to your hotel where you can relax and enjoy a delicious dinner.
  • There is plenty of time to explore town before getting a good night sleep.

Day 5 Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu :

  • Wake up early and enjoy a beautiful healthy breakfast in your hotel.
  • We either hike or take the bus up to Machu Picchu.
  • We explore one of the world’s most spectacular world heritage sites Machu Picchu (~2.5hrs).
  • Those who have booked Huayna Picchu can explore this magnificent site.

Day 5 Machu Picchu to Cusco :

  • After exploring Machu Picchu, we take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes to get ready to take the train back to Ollantaytambo.
  • From Ollantaytambo we drive you back to your hotel in Cusco.

Do I need insect repellent?

Yes, you should bring your own insect repellent in particular for mosquitos.

Should I prepare for altitude sickness?

Yes, before arriving in Cusco you should get altitude medication (unless told otherwise by your GP). Ideally, you should arrive n Cusco at least 24-48 hours before starting any treks at altitude.

Should I bring any anti-diarrhea tablets?

Yes, if you are taking any altitude sickness medication, you should bring anti-diarrhea tables (unless told otherwise by your GP).
