Humantay Lake is a religious spiritual attraction of the Andes that is believed to be a place of positive energy. This is why the local people respect this lake and the surrounding mountains. In the month of June the Andean local people perform ceremonies and rituals around the lake which is believed to be a transition door to reach their Gods who’s tears created the lake.

We drive through Mollepata and to Soraypampa where we have breakfast before hiking to Humantay Lake. After lunch at the lake we drive back to Cusco.

Treks vs Hikes: What's the Difference?

At Hike Peru we differentiate between Treks and Hikes. A trek is a multi-day (2 or more) activity which typically involves walking through remote, rugged and steep landscapes while camping. All our treks are  at altitude which makes it even more challenging for most people.

A hike is a 2 day activity which may include camping or staying at a hotel. Hikes are shorter and more suitable Travellers of any kind.
